Topshop's "The Outsiders" collection is perfect for fall, I'm dying to get my hands on some of these pieces. I'm loving the neutrals combined with dark red, navy and green, very "city-girl-in-the-country" aka what I am everytime I go on holiday. There are definitely elements of Scottish sexiness in some of the tartan accents. Looks like my money is going to melt away as soon as I get a chance to stop by. Which reminds me, I really, REALLY need to get a job before I end up with zero cash by the end of the month...having your card declined is not a good look.

And of course, this collection could only be combined with some really, really expensive shoes. Like these. From Burberry Prorsum. These are, basically, my perfect winter shoes. If anyone feels kind enough, they might like to buy me these. I'm not even joking, perfect, perfect, PERFECT. These are probably going to appear on this blog a lot this winter...

ick, I look kind of ill. Anyway, I bought this jumper from Topshop this weekend and it is so comfy, I have been wearing it non-stop. I forgot to take a photo of the most interesting feature - the exposed zip down the back, sorry!

I've got a date tonight so I thought I'd search through my wardrobe instead of buying something new. I haven't worn this for such a long time so it feels like I bought something new anyway!

Also, it is a welcome change from all the denim I've been wearing. I think I could probably get away with this at school (the rule is maximum 8cm above the knee) although it is the sort of dress you can only wear once because everyone remembers it xo

I've never been more depressed to look at a price tag in a shop in my life! £125 for this Christopher Kane for Topshop dress, so frustrating! I knew I should have checked the tag before I tried it on and found out that it fitted and suited me perfectly. Such an idiot! I think most of the collection is too expensive for what it is. It doesn't exactly appeal to the pockets of my age group, especially since it is so hard to find a part time job in the current economic climate.

In other news, I've been invited to a party and the theme is "Rumble in the Jungle". So I bought these:

I feel so wild in them! As you can guess, I am indeed going as a leopard. I just need to make some little ears and then I'm good to go. Rar! I'm thinking of experimenting with my eyeshadow a bit, maybe doing an orange base and drawing leopard spots on? Something wild anyway.

Lily D, must you be so cool and effortless all the time? You are raising everyone's expectations of British girls, I feel bad leaving my house in pyjama bottoms to run across to the gas station to buy milk. (photo: elle.us)

I would say most of my wardrobe is black, so I love how these two girls (photos: tFS) have managed to make it more interesting. I like the pop of animal print on the left, and her lipstick looks great. I like the asymetrical top on the right, as well as the print.

London FW S/S 10

Luella:

To be honest, I feel this collection lacks the edge Luella normally has (photos: telegraph.co.uk). I love the colours but normally there are a few pieces that I fall head over heels for, but this season I'm a bit disappointed. Overall, it's an OK collection and it will probably sell because it has the pretty-factor, but I'm not too keen on it.

Christopher Kane:

I see you Freja! I don't like Christopher Kane's collection (photos: telegraph.co.uk) - the check print that was running through the whole collection was a bit too much, I felt it was a bit of an overkill. It's nice to see that the style has moved on from last season though, the light blue is lovely.

Moving away from Fashion Week, I've just put this Elizabeth and James bracelet on my wishlist (photo: saks)

At £160 I'm not sure I'll be receiving it any time soon, especially since a few other pieces are at the top of my list (I'm very good at prioritising!)

NY Fashion Week S/S 10 (2)

I am in love with BCBG Max Azria's collection (photos: tFS). Although there are some pieces that are very Herve Leger, I think it is, as a whole, a very strong collection. The dresses are gorgeous and I love the colours. It is probably my favourite collection so far. The hair and make-up on the models is very simple which meant all the attention was on the dresses, which are sublime.

I didn't like most of the DKNY collection, but I thought that this pink playsuit (photo: style.com) was lovely. I found the sporty feeling of the collection a bit repetitive and didn't like the prints, which is why I prefer this plainer look.

Erin Fetherston had a couple of dresses I loved, the collection was so ladylike. The two above (photos: style.com) look so light and will be perfect in S/S. I like the shoes as well, they fit perfectly with the collection.

I really need to get back in the gym, I haven't been for such a long time xo

What am I wearing?

Please ignore my odd looking face! I'm wearing a nude H&M top. I recently lost a bit of weight (20lbs to be exact) and so I was clearing out my wardrobe. I think this top works oversized, it is so soft as well! However, here it is obvious that it is quite sheer, so I'm planning on buying a flesh coloured vest that will go right down to the bottom of the top so you can't see my jeans through it as you can here. The boots have a 3 inch heel, they were the first proper heels I bought for myself.

If you are a weardrobe user, you can comment on this outfit over there if you'd like, because as you can tell I'm very new to it and need some support xo

NY fashion week S/S 10

(L: Ruffian R: Preen photos: style.com) I'm always fiercely jealous everytime NY fashion week comes round, because there is no place I would rather be. The Ruffian and Preen collections were both pretty strong this season, Preen is my favourite of the two. I like the casual luxe look of this Ruffian outfit (and the shoes, oh my god, but let's focus on the clothes haha) - I like the sheen of the material, the whole look seems like it would be very wearable and very comfortable. I like this Preen dress. Although I'm not normally a fan of lace inserts or body-con, this dress looks like something I might actually wear. However I wouldn't buy it, we all know that Topshop will be bringing out something similar before this can hit the stores. The neckline is my favourite thing about it.

(L: Monique Lhullier R: Erin Wasson x RVCA photos: style.com) According to style.com, Lhullier's show was a bit of a mess, but from the photos the clothes look good. I'm not too sure what the hats were doing - they didn't add anything to the outfits. This was my favourite dress, I love the print and neck, the sleeves are adorable. It looks really summery. Erin Wasson's collection? I can't really think of any way to describe it, so I'm quoting tFS user papa_levante who said "Erin has abused her right to use any more denim. Ever again." I totally agree. What on earth was she thinking when she came up with this hideous denim romper...thing. Although I'm willing for these styles to just go away - I will bet anything that, come next summer, this stuff will be everywhere. At least it has comedic value.

I bought a MAC concealer today - Studio Finish SPF 35 in NC15 (I told you I was pale!). I have been looking for a good concealer for an incredibly long time and when the make-up technician applied this one, I knew I'd found it! It blends perfectly with my skin and covers a lot with only a little product. I also bought a brush to go with it since my last concealer brush was very poor quality. I was very happy with my little shopping trip, I bought three new tops from H&M - one navy, one charcoal and one nude - and got photos taken for my provisional driving license. A word of advice, if you live in the South of England, stay off the roads!!

The left photo features Amanda Laine (L) and Taryn Davidson (R), models. I love their looks here. I like the t-bar sandals, especially the ornate twist on Amanda's. I'm currently looking for the perfect blazer, so Taryn's was the reason their photo (photo: altamiranyc) caught my eye. Their outfits are obviously finished with two pairs of equally gorgeous long legs - talk about making me feel guilty for skipping my gym session today! The right hand photo (photo: altamiranyc) is Lia Vardy who customised the top she was wearing - it was originally plain yellow - is sporting two gorgeous rings. I'm always on the look out for statement rings, I think they can offset any outfit perfectly.

Doesn't Evan Rachel Wood (photo: blackbook) look amazing in this shot? I love it when women appreciate their pale skin. As an incredibly fair-skinned girl (and by fair, I mean fair, factor 50 sunscreen is necessary here!) I really look up to women live Evan Rachel Wood. She makes me proud to resist succumbing to the tantastic trend that seems to be happening where I live. Plus, it means you don't have to spend money on bronzer!

shoes again, and other things

I know, I know, I just did a shoe post but I discovered these Oxford pumps on tFS today (photo: kompact.se). They are designed by Åke Cappelin. I'm desperately searching for something similar in the UK, although with a smaller heel. I need some smart, practical heels for school and I think these are my best choice for winter, and I will pick a pair of wedges in the summer. If you know of anything that sounds similar in the UK, please let me know!

I thought I'd mention a bit about my skincare regime. I'm a skincare obsessive, I cleanse, tone, moisturise and so much more. Occasionally, I treat myself to an SOS Purifying Facial at Champneys - but with a limited student budget, I believe I can make my skin look just as radiant without fancy treatments.

I use a Dermalogica Skin Refining Masque, it draws oil and impurities from the skin, and it is great at preventing breakouts. I use it 3 times a week. This was the first Dermalogica product I bought after hearing rave reviews and ever since I have been converted to the whole range. In my beauty cupboard, I have:
Sheer Tint Redness Relief Moisturiser (SPF 15)
Skin Prep Scrub
Skin Refining Masque

But I'm not all Dermalogica! Although I am a devout convert to the brand, my beauty cupboard is interspersed with other products, here is a rundown of some of my most prized items:
Take The Day Off Cleansing Milk by Clinique
Caffeine Eye Roll-On by Garnier Nutritionist
Kiss Me Lip Scrub by Philosophy
Coconut Frosting Body Scrub by Philosophy
Coconut Frosting Body Butter by Philosophy

I love Philosophy's packaging. Although my Coconut Frosting ones are rather plain, I really want to buy some of the shampoos and conditioners. The packaging is much brighter. I'm such a sucker for great packaging and for anything colourful. I must urge you to buy these Philosophy products, because they are absolutely brilliant! I love the option on Philosophy's website to "add all to cart". It's a very dangerous button that I have to discourage myself from pressing!

Also, I'm stocking up on bright tights and socks for the winter. I normally buy from Topshop, here are my favourites:

So bright, so pretty! I'm also looking to buy some knee-length skirts (my school's dresscode won't let us wear anything 8cm above the knee) because I am living in jeans at the moment which is horrifically dull!

shoes shoes shoes!

I am a great lover of shoes! I believe you can tell a lot about a person through their choice of footwear. If I saw anyone gallivanting around town in these beautiful creations, I would describe that person as very lucky indeed. The best thing about shoes, of course, is that no matter what your dress size is, you can still wear something stunning on your tootsies. These are my favourite pairs from F/W 09.10, I'd better start saving, or hoping for some early Christmas presents!

These Balenciaga beauties (photo: style.com) are top of my Fall/Winter wishlist! I love the version above, but the ones that really caught my eye were grey and pink. They are not too dissimilar to a pair of grey ankle booties I already own, so I'm not sure if I can justify their purchase (how silly of me, there is always a way to justify the buying of shoes). These will look great with jeans and a blazer or with a mini dress and opaque tights. Or, take the lead from my previous post and wear some cute sheer dotted tights

These are Gucci (photo: saks.com). Just look at that heel! So impractical but so desirable. Although I have nowhere to wear them, I would love something similar when I'm older, as they would look great with a suit for workwear. Imagine how endless your legs could look in these babies! I have a sneaky suspicion that they might cause horrific foot pain, especially on someone like me who has an incredibly low pain tolerance. We must suffer for our art!

One last pair of heels and then I will show you my favourite flats - I promise! These are Louboutins designed for Roland Mouret's RM show (photo: elle). I don't think anyone can resist the sleek red sole of a pair of Christian Louboutins, least of all me. I could spend hours trying on different styles and colours, plus they are surprisingly comfy. These are my new favourites. I like the cut out shape, it's very modern and very chic. I would wear them with a cute girly dress.
I love Lanvin flats (photo: pollyanna.com) because they can be easily popped in a bag for "emergencies" (when a heel breaks/when you realise your shoe choice was simply innappropriate) and they come in a whole range of colours. At the moment, I am lusting after these nude snakeskin ones, as my last pair of nude flats have begun to disintegrate (truly traumatic I assure you!). These can be worn with everything from jeans, shorts and mini skirts to dresses and suits. They're very smart and so, so sweet!

I thought school would make me much busier, apparently not! However, this lack of work is not likely to continue, so my updates will before long be confined to the weekends xo

Sheer dotted tights: spotted @ Balenciaga F'09 (photos: style.com). Aren't they darling? Not too sexy, not too innocent. Perfect to keep my little legs warm in the winter whilst looking more interesting than boring black. I'm not a fan of plain black tights anyway. Pattern, print or colour is always best. I believe Topshop are doing a (more economically friendly) version with tiny hearts as opposed to spots. I must make sure I don't ladder them - it is my worst clothing habit. Do you have any tricks for avoiding ladders in sheer tights?

I adore Freja's street style (photo: teenvogue), even in the classic model uniform of black she looks incredible. I preferred her hair slightly shorter though, I think it was more unique to her. However, she is still one of my favourite models. I love the blazer, I was trying to find one for myself but I'm far too fussy. Sometimes I think I should just not shop at all with my standards, but then I remember what a silly concept that would be!

On the right is Johanne Friis (photo: altamiranyc) who is with Ford Models. She's clearly a natural beauty and her style is so relaxed. I love the vest top, it looks so comfortable. Her bag, which you can just see, is similar to one I thrifted a while ago, blue with fringing. Also, don't you just love her hair?
